Butterflies & Dragonflies

Invertebrate diversity is a useful indicator of habitat quality. Many invertebrates are very sensitive to changes in their habitat or environment. Several butterfly and dragonfly species are listed on the UK Biodiversity Action Plan (UK BAP) and on Local Biodiversity Action Plans (LBAPs). Survey for the presence or absence of certain butterfly or dragonfly species can provide useful information on the ecological value of a site and the success of a management plan. Direct Ecology can provide specialist advice and survey for invertebrates. This information can help guide future decisions regarding conservation on the site.
